# 3484  Carthage Downs PY in last Five Minutes

DAY IN REVIEW: MONDAY - There were five games played today and most were mismatches. Penn Yan led by two goals after three quarters but saw their lead lost when Carthage scored four goals including the game winner with 11 second left in regulation.

Carthage at Penn YanGANANDA-11 at GATES CHILI-4 - The Spartans scored one goal in each quarter, but the Blue Pathers led 8-2 at the half. Leading the scoring for Gananda (4-8) were Brayden Dohse (4g-1a), Jase Smith (2g-3a), Mason Groh (1g-1a) and Jacob Michaels (2g-1a) who reached his 50th career assist in the game. Alex Galka won 12+/5- = 71% at the faceoff "X".  There was no report from Gates Chili at post-time. On Tuesday the Spartans will be at Canandaigua while Gananda plays at Geneva.    [ BOX SCORE]     

CARTHAGE-9 at PENN YAN-8 - Although Carthage scored the first two goals in the game, Penn Yan returned with two goals in less than ten seconds to tie the game. Each team scored another goal leading to s 3-3 tie after one quarter. Marcus Whitman won their first game of the season in a good game with Gananda. A couple of goals before the half was the difference as Livonia-Avon defeated Pal-Mac 8-6. After appearing in the finals the last two seasons, Pal-Mac came into tonight’s game looking for their first win since 2017.  The Red Raiders fought back hard with last four goals of the game to defeat HF-L 8-5.  A key factor in that win was Red Raider goalie Will Nichols.  He finished the game with nine saves, including six in the first half and was named the All Tournament MVP for Class C.

Pal-Mac was 13-9 last year, loosing to Penn Yan in the Class D Championship game but this year they are in Class C and they have an abundance of talent from a very good team last year. All of their stat leaders from 2021 are back and offensively they only lost 25 of 374 points to graduation.

Tuesday: DAY IN REVIEW: Mynderse scored first and shutout Midlakes-Red Jacket for the first half, on their way to a 5-3 win on the road. It was the first win for the Blue Devils this season and avenged their earlier 6-2 loss when they played the Eagles on May first. Junior midfielder Mitchell Dekanski led the scoring with 3g and freshman midfielder Dylan Tandle added 1g-1a.
